VI’m preparing a small demonstration version of a FileMaker application I’ve been developing called CaseTrax. In its real-world use, the solution supports government property management workflows tied to highly sensitive programs, which obviously cannot be shown or discussed directly.
I have an upcoming internal “Shark Tank”–style presentation where the goal is to demonstrate FileMaker’s capabilities (data integrity, relationships, automation, dashboards, multi-user support, etc.) and make the case for funding and formal adoption. The challenge is that I cannot bring the actual production software or data into the room, and without a working demo, it’s difficult to convey the value effectively.
My plan is to build a sanitized, fictional demo version that mirrors the structure and features of the real system without touching any proprietary data, workflows, or program details.
I’m interested in hearing how others have approached:
Creating demo or “proxy” solutions for restricted environments
Best practices for stripping or abstracting sensitive logic while preserving impact
Tips for pitching FileMaker itself (not just the app) to decision-makers
Any insight from those who have done internal demos, executive pitches, or compliance-sensitive presentations would be greatly appreciated.
